SIMEON B. JAKIM:
Palestinian amora of the third generation: pupil of R. Johanan, to whom he often addressed scholarly questions (Yer. 'Orlah i. 60d; Yer. B. B. 16b), and contemporary of R. Eliezer. He was a prominent teacher and was considered an important authority (Yer. Sanh. 21d). Together with R. Eliezer he is mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud also, although under the name Simeon b.
