BENCEMERO, or BEN ZAMAIRA, ABRAHAM:

Mediator, in 1526, between the Moors and the governor of Saffee and Azamor, employed by the Portuguese. He lived at Azamor on the west coast of Africa. Abraham Cazan (Ḥazan), the most prominent Jew of that city, was also employed in the same capacity.
