AHINOAM ("Brother is Pleasantness"):
1. Daughter of Ahimaaz and wife of Saul, first king of Israel (I Sam. xiv. 50). 2. The Jezreelitess captured by David while at war with Saul (I Sam. xxv. 43); she became his wife. The Amalekites subsequently carried her away from Ziklag, but David soon rescued her (I Sam. xxx. 5, 18). At Hebron Ahinoam gave birth to Amnon, David's first-born (II Sam. iii. 2).
