HALTERN, JOSEPH:

One of the Meassefim; died in Berlin Sept. 5, 1818 (1817, according to Philippson in "Allg. Zeit. des Jud." ii. 216). He wrote "Esther," a Hebrew adaptation of Racine's drama of the same name.
