LAUTERBACH, SELIG:   (print this article)

Galician writer; born at Drohobicz Jan. 25, 1826; known as the author of the following works: "Minḥat Kohen," in two volumes (Drohobicz, 1882), the first discussing the proper names of the Old Testament, the second the Jewish colonization of the Holy Land; "Ha-Mishpaṭ le-Elohim," annotations on the Talmud, Midrash, and Biblical explanations and novellæ (published in "Ha-Nesher," iii.); "Ha-Nistarot weha-Niglot," on magic and sorcery in the Talmud and Midrash (Vienna, 1871). Lauterbach, who is engaged in business at Drohobicz, has also contributed to many periodicals.
