BEER, BERTHOLD:

Austrian medical writer; born at Brünn, Moravia, April 24, 1859. Educated at the high schools of his native city, first at the realschule, then at the gymnasium, he left for Vienna, where he attended the university and graduated in 1885. For several years he was physician at the "Allgemeines Krankenhaus" (General Hospital), making neuropathy a specialty. His scientificresearches were published in various Vienna medical journals, and in the "Journal of Anatomy," London; "The Lancet," London; "Nature," London; "Science," New York; and especially in "Wiener Medicinische Presse," of which he is editor.
