HAMMEDATHA ():

Father of Haman (Esth. iii. 1, 10; viii. 5; ix. 10, 24). He is generally designated as the "Agagite," being referred to only once (ib. ix. 10) without that epithet. The name, derived from the Persian, signifies "given by the moon."
